PULAU BANYAK means many Islands; there are 40 of them, close enough to each other for perfect kayaking conditions. That is how the first humans saw them once, by canoe.
Sea kayaking is not just an environmental friendly way to move around at
low cost. It is a way of life for many nature lovers. Pulau Banyak is one of the most fascinating
places on earth to do it, no matter if you are an absolute beginner or a
serious enthusiast.
OUR EQUIPMENT
At this stage we use exclusively Sit-on-tops for kayak tours. We know,
many kayak enthusiasts swear on Sit-inside kayaks but we have tried both types
and found that in tropical conditions an Eskimo design with a cockpit has
hardly any advantage over a sit-on-top.
A big advantage of Sit-on-top kayaks is that you can jump into the water
whenever we feel like it, for snorkeling, a swim, or just to cool down and
relax.
Alona
tandem Sit-on-tops are pretty sleek and fast to cover longer distances but yet
stable enough for beginners. Designed as tandems they can also be paddled solo
carrying a lot of gear in the front seat for self supporting tours.
The paddles are made in Germany by Mergner Paddel, a company that
produces nothing but high quality paddles.
WHERE DO YOU WANT TO DO IT?
In BALAI or HALOBAN?
There are two nice areas in Pulau Banyak, perfect for
kayaking. Two community
groups are awaiting you: In Balai “Napoleon Kayaking Club” and in Haloban “Acropora
Kayaking”. Each club
offer several suggestions on one-day and several day trips.
Chose where to start. Prices are the same and both areas offer great
kayaking. Why not try both of them...
